The Willing Workers of Oxon Hill, Incorporated, is pleased to announce the Charles E.
Stephens Memorial Scholarship for 2010.  The purpose of this scholarship is to
recognize sustained youth participation in the St. Paul United Methodist Church
programs and activities, recognize academic achievement and encourage and support
youth in continuing their educational endeavors.

To be eligible for the Charles E. Stephens Memorial Scholarship, you must be:
  •      a high school senior graduating this year
  •      member of St. Paul United Methodist Church for a year
  •      demonstrate sustained involvement/participation in the St. Paul United
         Methodist Church programs and activities
or

  •      a high school senior graduating this year
  •      member of St. Paul United Methodist Church for a minimum of six (6) months
  •      demonstrate sustained involvement/participation with your prior Church family
         affiliation with a letter of recommendation.

Each applicant will be evaluated based upon church involvement, community
involvement, academic achievement, and financial need.  In addition, a Selection
Committee will interview applicants.  The Selection Committee is a group of individuals
independent of the Willing Workers of Oxon Hill, Inc.  The Selection Committee will be
given specific guidelines to aid them in selecting the recipient of the scholarship.

Criteria have been established to evaluate the applicants and an application form
developed to solicit information from the applicants to assist the Selection Committee.  
The criteria, however, does not delve into matters of extreme personal nature.  If you are
interested in being considered for the scholarship, please carefully complete the
enclosed application form and return to the address shown on the application.  
Applications must be postmarked in time to be received on or before
April 5, 2010.  After
receipt of the application, you will be advised of the time and place for the interview.  We
urge you to note on your application several date preferences or times that will assist the
Selection Committee in setting up the interview.
